Shri Saptamatrika Narmadiya Veda Seva Math, Maheshwar

Shri Sharadiya Navratri Mahotsav - 2025
(Vikram Samvat 2082 Shuklapaksha Ashwin Maas)

From 21/09/2025 (Amavasya) to 30/09/2025 (Navami), Shri Lalita Mahayag and Shri Shatchandi Mahayag are being organized at Shri Saptamatrika Narmadiya Veda Seva Math, Maheshwar, situated on the holy northern bank of the Narmada River. Ashwin Navratri is also known as Sharadiya Navratri. In this Navratri, the worship of one's family deities holds special significance. In the Puranas, Ashwin Navratri is considered a special period for self-purification and liberation, easily achieved by awakening the powers of the Mother through spiritual practice (sadhana).

Shri Lalita Mahayag

In this universe, the first Shri Lalita Mahayag was organized by Lord Parashiva with the aim of manifesting the primordial power, Mahamaya Shri Lalita Mahatripurasundari. In that yagya, Shri Ganapati first emerged, followed in sequence by Shri Bala Tripurasundari, Shri Rajamatangi, Shri Mahavarahi, and finally, Shri Lalita Tripurasundari herself appeared. All these deities are subsidiary deities of Shri Tripurasundari. The worship sequence of Shri Lalita Mahayag is completed in this order. At the Saptamatrika temple, this mahayag will be performed by Vedic Brahmins who are practitioners of Shri Vidya, following the South Indian Shri Vidya worship tradition.

Shri Shatchandi Mahayag

In Kali Yuga, worship of Shri Chandi Parameshwari leads to very quick liberation from all troubles (kalau chandivinayakau). In the Shatchandi Mahayag, 100 recitations of the Shri Durga Saptashati and a tenth part of that as a havan are performed by Vedic Brahmins.Mother Narmada has asked for a boon from Lord Shiva that any yagya, havan, etc., performed on her banks should be quickly accomplished. Therefore, performing a yagya on the banks of the Narmada yields the desired results very quickly. That is why yagyas are organized every year during Navratri at the Saptamatrika temple in Maheshwar.
